Design Codes & Communities

Our colleague Jeff Bishop has developed some really practical guidance for local authorities and design professionals on how to fulfil what is now a requirement to engage communities in work on design codes (guides etc.) – and that includes how to ‘pay’ for it!

It was drafted in the summer of 2023, and comes in two parts – A: Gearing Up and B: Methods and Programme. Both can be downloaded here for free! 

The guidance draws on work we have done with the Forest of Dean District Council Design Code, Bath & North East Somerset Council, and with communities as part of Neighbourhood Plans. Get in touch if you would be interested in how we could help with engaging, drafting or reviewing your Design Code.
